Kane's Story
Kane came to Old Dairy in 2023 as we were building the new 'Brewhouse' space. He was moving to the area and was keen to come and work the bar. Before working at Old Dairy, he had worked in hotels and was a barber for 14 years.
About a year into Kane working at Old Dairy, we had decided to create a food truck. Laura had been a manager at a pizza restaurant for 8 years; and beer and pizza just felt like the best combination. Naturally, it had to be a pizza truck.
After many unsuccessful interviews for a pizza chef, Kane offered himself to take the challenge on. Us, being, well idiots, didn't realise how well Kane would take to the role. We did have some help when we first set-up, loaned equipment and advice on dough recipes and prep.
Then soon enough Kane was on his own, developing his own dough recipes, taken from Italian influence. Kane researched and became obsessed with pizza. If you've had one of our pizzas you'll know it shows. He has now settled on a dough recipe which is based on a Neapolitan dough.
We've always kept our menu non-pretentious. We want it to be the pizza that any age will enjoy. Just reliable, good food you can count on. We are always able to dabble with our menu for events and seasonal changes too, offering a fun special is always something Kane looks forward to creating.
Tap Pizza is open Thursday-Sunday, if you've not tried one yet, I must say, it's got a good name for itself for a good reason.
